Wednesday:  WG:   Students will examine the physical geography as related to Texas.  Using the blank map, recreate and identify the following region on the map of Texas:   4 Physical Regions: Geographers typically divide the state into the Gulf Coastal Plains, North Central Plains, Great Plains, and Mountains and Basins.  WH:The student will understand and be able to explain how, after the collapse of classical empires, the Crusades, the Black Death, the Hundred Years’ War, and the Great Schism contributed to the end of medieval Europe. 

Wednesday:  The Black Death (1347–1351)

Thursday:  WG: Students will examine the human/economic geography as related to Texas. Using the blank map, recreate and identify the following region on the map of Texas.  12 Economic Regions: Used by the Texas Comptroller to analyze financial and workforce data.  WH:The student will understand and be able to explain how, after the collapse of classical empires, the Crusades, the Black Death, the Hundred Years’ War, and the Great Schism contributed to the end of medieval Europe. 

Thursday:   The Hundred Years’ War (1337–1453)

Friday:  WG: Students will examine the people and their environment as related to Texas.Using the blank map, recreate and identify the following region on the map of Texas.  7 Tourism/Subregions: Common for travel and cultural identification, including Big Bend Country, Hill Country, South Texas Plains, Panhandle Plains, Gulf Coast, Piney Woods, and Prairies & Lakes.  WH:The student will understand and be able to explain how, after the collapse of classical empires, the Crusades, the Black Death, the Hundred Years’ War, and the Great Schism contributed to the end of medieval Europe.

Wednesday:  WG:  Students will examine the physical geography, the human geography, and people and their environment of Northern Europe.  WH:  Students will compare/contrast common characteristics of  dynasties after Muhammud died and what eventually brought about their fall?

Thursday:  WG:  Students will review Unit 7:  Northern Europe for their test on Friday.  WH:  Students will review Unit 6:  Islam and Arab Empire for their test on Friday

Friday:  WG:   Students will be tested over their knowledge of Unit 7:  Northern European countries (Iceland, Ireland, United Kingdom, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania). WH:  Students will be tested over their knowledge of Unit 6: Islam and the Arab Empire

Monday:  WG:  Examine the ancient civilizations of the Aztecs and Mayans.  WH:   Students will understand how the migration of Germanic tribes contributed to the fall of the Roman Empire.

Tuesday:  WG:  Students will explain what factors have shaped Mexico’s population patterns.  WH: Students will begin to make generalizations about the fall of Rome

Wednesday:  WG:  Students will analyze how Mexico gained its Independence from Spain.  WH: Empires fall for a variety of reasons.  (Problems?): Economy, Geography, Culture and Beliefs

Thursday:  WG:  Students will conduct an online research to locate an example of Diego Rivera’s wall paintings and frescos.  WH: Explore the development of the political/social system of feudalism and the economic system of manorialism.

Wednesday: WG: Students will analyze how globalization affects connectivity, standard of living, pandemics, and loss of local culture.  (Mexico) WH: Rise of Christianity: From Charlemagne to Constantine

Thursday:  WG:  Students will  identify the factors affecting the location of different types of economic activities, including subsistence and commercial agriculture, manufacturing, and service industries. (Mexico).  WH:  The Rise of Christianity in the Byzantine Empire

WH:   Mexico (Specific State Topics Illustrated: Geography, Population, Climate, History, Economy, Culture).   WH: Research the major religions practiced in the Roman Empire—Rome’s official religion, Judaism, Christianity, Mithraism, and the cult of Isis.   Display your findings on the  chart.  Describe the development of each religion; its focus and beliefs; any Roman influences; and its followers.

Wednesday:  WG:  Cultures collide (past and present).  WH:  Students will locate places and regions of historical significance directly related to major eras and turning points in world history, specifically China.

Thursday:  WG:  Students will examine economic changes and how Latin American countries have come together and are similar but yet, in some aspects, different. 

WH:  Students will describe the historical origins, central ideas, and spread of major religious and philosophical traditions, including Buddhism, Christianity, Confucianism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, and Sikhism.

Friday:   WG and WH:  Same as Thursday.

Monday:  WG:  Students will compare Canada’s customs and cultures with the United States with the other 2 countries the students’ research for their, What defines culture chart.  WH:  Students will compare/contrast the Near East River Civilizations.  Review for test on Tuesday.

Tuesday:  WG: Unit 4:  United States and Canada test.  WH:  Unit 4:  Near East River Valley Civilization Test.

Wednesday:  WG:  Students will describe the major political, religious/philosophical, and cultural influences of Latin America. WH:  Students will be introduced to the following civilizations:  India and China.

Thursday and Friday: No school

Monday:  WG:  Students will explore the physical region of the United States/Canada, the settlement patterns of the region, the common human patterns of the region, and cultural diffusion to and from the region.  WH: Students understand how early civilizations developed from 8000 BC to 500 BC.

Tuesday:   WG:  Students will examine the US/Canada region, being characterized by a variety of regions, including physical geographic regions, multiple political divisions, and large urban centers.  WH:  Students will summarize the fundamental ideas and institutions of Western civilizations that originated in Greece and Rome.

Wednesday:  WG:   Continue with Tuesday’s objective.  WH: Students will examine the major political, religious/philosophical, and cultural influences of Assyria, Persia, Babylon, Greece, and Rome.

Thursday:  WG:  Students will examine the cultures of the United States, Canada,and 2 other countries on the immigration list.  WH:  Students will evaluate the  8 Reasons Why Rome Fell”

Friday:   WG:  Students will evaluate the spread of cultural traits to find examples of cultural convergence and divergence such as the spread of democratic ideas, language, foods, technology, or global sports.  WH: Students will complete and review the Roman Empire questions and watch the video on the fall of the Roman Empire.
