Week of September 8-12, 2025

Monday: 

WG: Students will examine  how physical processes such as hurricanes, El Niño, earthquakes, monsoons, and volcanoes affect the lithosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere.  : WH:  Students will examine the rise of ancient Near East civilizations.

Tuesday: 

WG:  Students will continue with their Google Slide Infographic about recent natural disasters. : WH:  Students will analyze and examine the rise of Near East (Rise of River Valley Civilizations), focusing on the following definition and characteristics: :  

  • Definition: complex culture in which large numbers of people share a number of common elements.
  • 6 Common Characteristics: using the acronym:PERSIA P – Political (Government), E – Economic (Cities),                          R – Religious (Religion), S – Social (Social Structure)), I – Intellectual (Writing), A – Artistic (Art)

Wednesday:  WG:  Students will  understand how people, places, and environments have changed over time and the effects of these changes.  WH: Students will interpret maps, charts, and graphs to explain how geography has influenced people and events in the past.

Thursday:   WG/WH: Overview of the various attacks on US soil, pausing to discuss 2 specific attacks: 

Pearl Harbor (December 7, 1941) 

9/11 (September 11, 2001).

 

Friday:  WG:  The student will understand the patterns and characteristics of major landforms, climates, and ecosystems of Earth and the interrelated processes that produce them.; WH: The student understands how major scientific and mathematical discoveries and technological innovations affected societies prior to 1750.
